How to install your Lexus/Toyota Billet Key Kit:

Required tools:

  • 1.3mm allen key (included but a precision tool such as https://a.co/d/iXAiT3N is highly recommended)
  • Small phillips head screw driver
  • Flush cutters

Step 1: Remove your key and transponder from the factory plastic case. The factory Lexus/Toyota key is held together with one M2 screw and friction. Some factory keys are overmolded into the plastic and require cutting away to remove.

Step 2: Place your key in the machined pocket and align with the screw hole. Thread the included flat M2 screw from the countersunk side. A small application of blue or pink threadlocker on the threads is highly recommended. Take care not to over-tighten, the key metal is very soft!

Step 3: Install the backing plate with the logo first. The protrusion from the part fits in the key pocket. Utilize 4 of the included M2 button cap screws. Take care to have all the screws first only lightly threaded in completely before completing a final pass to torque them all down.

Step 4: Place your transponder in the shell and then install the faceplate. Use 4 M2 button cap screws and again take care to have all the screws first only lightly threaded in completely before completing a final pass to torque them all down.

Step 5: Enjoy your new rugged key!

Notes on blade types:

This design is currently compatible only with the style of key blade that has a threaded hole. OEM style key blades feature larger 'wings' when compared to aftermarket blades (see picture). Aftermarket blades may require a shim to ensure minimum play. On our test unit, ~0.018" of shim, or a strip of paper folded over twice (4 layers) was a good fit.
